What is The Alternative Board?

The CEO walks a lonely road and it is difficult to find the right people to act as a truly effective sounding board. The Alternative Board (TAB) provides a forum where CEOs can get practical reaction to their operating problems, sound advice on their revenue generating plans and real world input on the viability of their dreams.

 

TAB does this by putting together peer advisory groups made up of CEOs, presidents, business owners and partners who are committed to improving their businesses. Each TAB board contains members from up to ten non-competing businesses, and members can discuss issues in complete confidentiality with owners of other businesses who are not locked into their way of thinking.

 

Although members are from diverse industries, a large percentage of all challenges facing small businesses are the same regardless of the industry. Each member uses the group as a sounding board for issues and opportunities that come up in their business and the group acts as a virtual board for each of its members.

 

How does it work?

Each Board meets for one morning each month for three or four hours in a relaxed, confidential setting. After each meeting members leave with solid insight, action plans and advice that they can apply immediately to the challenges faced. Over time the board becomes an invaluable advisory resource that demands accountability from its members.

 

TAB boards meetings are chaired by an experienced businessman As well as chairing the Board Meeting the facilitator meets each member for about one hour each month to review issues raised at board meetings, develop a plan to implement the advice given, identify new issues for the next meeting and act as an unemotional advisor and coach.
